The Chinese characters carved on the upper part of the brush, De Xin Ying Shou, stand for "suiting one's heart". The tip of the Wishing Heart Skilful Hand brush is made of 30% goat hair surrounding a 70% weasel hair interior, giving it a combination of suppleness and resilience suitable for Xing Shu and Cao Shu scripts as well as Sumi-e and fine line painting. The weasel hair used in this mixed hair brush is sourced from Northeast China, a region long-known for producing the country's best weasel hair in terms of manufacturing method and raw material.

As the Chinese characters, Lang Hao, are used to refer to both weasel and wolf hair, brush tips that are made of weasel hair are often wrongly labeled as being made of wolf hair. While wolf hair brushes do exist, they tend to cost a lot and are available only in limited quantities.
