This cute little object that vaguely reminds of a little snake which lost its way is a useful utensil to control the amount of water needed to assure your ink ground on the ink stick has the right consistency for your calligraphy or sumi painting. It only has two holes, one as a water outlet, the other as an air vent to control the water outpour and to refill it. It is crafted in a way so that the dosage of water becomes easy - with each movement just a couple of drops are added to the ink stone which allows perfect control of the ink consistency.
