The style of the Handmade Album with Indigo Cover of Relief Characters is immediately striking. Its cover contains exactly what its title would indicate, but the final package is so elegant in its intricacy that it begs for at least a second and third closer inspection.

But beauty is not only skin deep for this album. Inside, the paper is a two-ply, unprocessed and unsized Xuan paper. Though it is soft and absorbent, the paper is also water reserved. This means that once the ink hits the page, its shape will be kept, as it is immediately "locked" into place. This advanced paper makes the album great for calligraphy writing, and can also be used for Sumi-e writing.
