SNOTTY SWINE - Oriental Wet Mounting Hard Tip Brush

This is a specialty brushed used in the process of wet mounting paintings on a backing or reinforcement paper to get rid of rinkles so that in a later step the painting is ready for painting. This brush has a similar usage as our palm fibre brushes - it serves you to flatten the backing paper which is already applied on the back of the artwork to get rid of rinkles.

NOTE: This brush is not a substitute for the wet mounting goat hair brushes - it is not used to apply mounting paste.

Since its bristles are softer than the tip of the palm fibre mounting brushes, this type of brush is used when applying the reinforcement paper to artworks painted on more fragile paper types to ensure the artworks will not be harmed when smoothening down the reinforcement paper to get rid of air bubbles and wrinkles between the two papers. Additionally, since the swine hair brush is very wide, it is suitable for larger paintings making it easier to flatten the backing paper on the main artwork paper.

Note: it is important that you do not confound this brush with the brushes used to apply the mounting paste - the swine hair bristles are too firm for this brush to be used directly on the paper with the artwork - its bristles might hurt the artwork. For the application of the mounting paste, please use the wet mounting goat hair brushes which you find in our store.
