Qi was born in a small village in Hunan provice in 1964. He learned to be a carpenter when he was young, during which time he learned by himself how to paint Sumi-e and write Calligraphy. Later he traveled all over China which inspired him greatly on his art creation style. He once said that, “I paint only what I saw”.
Qi achieved highly not only in the fields of painting and writing, but also on seal carving and poetry composition.
